I try not to take myself as seriously as I take certain issues seriously. By nature, as a writer, I enjoy writing about things that matter. In this time of penance, as it relates to writing, I have been reminded to refrain from demagoguery. (Is that spelled right?) I appreciate reflecting on this because in effect, such device can turn people who might otherwise take interest in your writing, into angry foes. Not that I calculate this, but that’s not why I write. In this age of quick conclusions about people, rather than be able to discuss and debate for let’s say a good half hour in person over a few glasses of wine, one must navigate through quick assumptions based on a statement or two. Rather unfortunate. But, I think there’s chance for people to share more with each other in the privacy of their own homes. People can change for the better. Thank God for that.
