Peace

Vote for peace. It’s time to bring our nation together and stop the flow of war. ASAP.

Philosphy

If the war against something gives one purpose, would one ever choose to succeed in winning it to end? That depends upon how we feel about peace. Is winnable peace better than being left in peace? To be left in peace, we have to leave in peace. To win our peace, we have to make war. Is it possible to win a war against war? So, that we can lose and be left in peace? Make love not war. Make war not love. Is it all the same to her or him? And after your war, remember to make love so you can go right on and make war again. Equal are those who war as those who peace, blessed are those who’ve found their mother’s and wives. In the end, we have all warred and peaced. Embrace peace.

Southern CA leadership

I would like to commend our firefighting efforts and thank our leaders all the way up to and including the national level, for providing support to our State of CA.

No to divestment

Recently I sent a letter of concern to our government, in response to news of proposed fund divestment to a region in the middle-east.
Just say no to divestment fellow citizens! We have many expenses, and we should not continue to support sides that are oppositional.

Pentagon scrapping anti war database?

Psychologists have publicly stated that they have recently lifted a ban. Apparently they used to self censure by keeping themselves separated from the interrogation process conducted by government officials. This self-censure may have amounted to thoroughness comparable to the self-censure of deviant priests in the Catholic Church. I don’t know. I assume there were for a long time now, “exempted” psychologists, hired as government employees for various government contracts. I find this lifted ban interesting in light of what was nearly simultaneously announced. The Pentagon is “scrapping” a database. I hope that the ACLU has made the correct assumptions [not that the ACLU is necessarily our champion] and checked the facts about the Pentagon program closure, which states that it (the Pentagon) has decided to scrap its database on individuals who are anti-war. The database may contain info on foot demonstrators as well as anyone who has petitioned various government bureaus over various citizen concerns, and those who place phone calls outside of the country; right… many of us. It is difficult to know the extent of classified data compilation on this. And further, does this “closure” mean that the information will be simply transferred to the federal bureau of investigation (whom the files are reportedly being sent to according to CNN), to be utilized further under a different umbrella? The ACLU seems to be convinced that the data will not be maintained and used, for example, in one possible scenario: in cooperation with the psychologists who recently have announced that they are lifting their ban against its own (now un-instated) policy of working with local law enforcement and/or state and federal government officials in the interrogation process of individuals.

Caring for seniors

Most seniors, whom I know personally, lead active lives, have responsibilities, are energetic, and would grow lonely if separated from their friends and children. That is a fact. And so, health maintenance is critical. Do your crossword puzzles, watch your favorite programs, engage in hobbies and travel, organize with your church and social groups. If you depend on your children solely for maintaining your mental health, please remember that they may still depend on you as well. So, nurture your hobbies and talents as well.
Also, I advise: Do not let society at large dictate and decide for you, what is appropriate social living. The adage about kicking your kids out of the home at age 18 is no longer applicable. Many families’ members have benefited a great deal from each other while living under the same roof. Many cultures advocate multi-generational cohabitation. So, if you think that your situation is “abnormal”, don’t rush to judgment. Don’t call the police over normal “turf wars”. Generational gaps have to be mitigated and are often done so through a few or more heated, emotionally charged “debates”. Unfortunately, some boomer men can be easily intimidated and feel threatened, as they were raised in a generation where male masculinity was defined by providing financially, for their female counterparts. This does not have to be so. So, be a bit more forgiving of your children’s financial plight, don’t rush to have your adult child medicinally subdued, counseled, or even committed, and everyone will be better off. And, if your child is ready to buy, or to inherit the home, the relationship will hopefully be based on a sound relationship without chastisement, first and foremost.

The lasting legacy of Lorenna Bobbit

In an age that is battered, if not defined by exceedingly bad behavior at the hand of some anti-socials, it pays to look back and remember what happened, so we can be a bit more forgiving of mistrust between individuals (depending on the situation and degree). First, I recall the Rodney King beating. Then I recall the OJ Simpson murder trial and surprising verdict… the attack on Nancy Kerrigan at the Olympic ice rink, and, The Robert Blake trial – to name a few. There are so many more examples in recent times that really give us a large list of men and women in the USA. But, if anything fell short of making men at large lose a bit of their confidence, Lorenna Bobbit is perhaps forever etched in the mind of the modern man of my generation, and the culprit for a gender assault that lasted and lasted; in some ways still lasts. She is a woman who cut off her lover’s/husband’s penis while he was sleeping. Need I say more about trust in the bedroom? Yikes!

Brooke Shields

Brooke Shields has used Washington’s pulpit to further causes, as many before her have. For Ms. Shields, it is her fight to battle her postpartum depression which became public when Tom Cruise publicly (I think) criticized her decision to use medication to remedy her ill. Tom’s answer for her problems may have been Scientology, as opposed to drug treatment, but he did not go so far as to say that out right and publicly. Maybe Tom’s criticism of her use of prescription drugs fueled her fire and so she acted to speak out against its epidemic proportions by her estimation. She could very well have been right.
The average male, Tom Leykis radio-listening majority will find both stars to be slightly out of touch, with their championing. Once in a while one need to be reminded that neither Brooke nor Tom are categorically, undeniably correct, for the practices of all of us. Those who do take prescription and those who do belong to a church must remember that they do it for their own wellbeing, however they define. And that, in turn, benefits the church as a whole community.

Kick ’em while they’re down? Is that it?

Well, after watching the usual lineup: “Nancy Grace”, “CNN Headline News”,” Extra”… opinions are flailing every which way when it comes to Paris.
I was happy to see Billy Baldwin eloquently defend the position that it is possible to have a religious and personal realization that Paris says to have had while confined. Being confined allows for different thoughts to emerge. So don’t beat someone down for saying so has been the case for them. It reminds me that his brother Alec may have been adept at publicly defending his personal rant that leaked out into public news, so maybe they’re both good talkers. But more importantly, they do have that right.

Ms. Hilton

Hey everybody! So Ms. Hilton is in Lynwood. Hold it down girl. So, my question to everyone is, am I taking advantage of the woman’s sentence by wanting to visit her while she’s in jail? Or am I being kind? I don’t know much about her, but she is meeting the so-called real world head on. “That’s hot”. Oh sorry, I couldn’t resist. Anyway, I’m thinking maybe I should see about visiting her while she’s in holding. Would that be perverse? So you think the guards would even allow it? I’ll have to ask a buddy if he wants to go with me. No, I’m actually not going to do this, this is just banter. No more drunk driving Paris! That was the charge right?
